(KOLN) - Lincoln Public Schools unveiled its preliminary $558 million budget for the 2025-26 school year on Tuesday, with property taxes expected to remain roughly the same for the average Lincoln homeowner. This year, LPS says its property tax levy has dropped by about 7 cents to $1.04, the lowest it’s been over a 30 year period.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Three Lincoln families have a new place to live as of Monday, after getting a home built by the Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln. The new triplex located in southwest Lincoln was appraised at $308,000, and each home includes about 1,800 square feet of space with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and an unfinished basement.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Both car and cornhole enthusiasts in Lincoln got their fix on Friday, while also helping out a good cause. At the April Sampson Cancer Center on the southern edge of Lincoln, about 200 people gathered together to raise money for local cancer patients and kids in need. This is the fourth year the event has been put on, organized by Cancer Partners and Urology Partners of Nebraska as well as the Lincoln Fire Fighters Association.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Kwame Gyamfi, an influential figure in Lincoln and leader at the Malone Center, celebrated Juneteenth by launching his new book, Prism of Perspectives. The book details Gyamfi’s life growing up in North Omaha and going to Boys Town, telling the story of being abandoned as a child and experiencing foster care, adoption, gang violence and prison. While Gyamfi is the author, he also had the support of four writers who helped tell his story.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - It’s been more than 10 years ago now that local radio personality Jack Mitchell made a mistake on one of his weather predictions, turning it into an annual event in Lincoln. The Walk of Shame was coined in the winter of 2013, when Mitchell made a promise to the city that the rest of the year would be 60 degrees or better. If he was wrong, he’d take a “walk of shame” across Lincoln.
