MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF) -- Miami Conservancy District monitoring water levels as rivers are expected to rise. The Miami Valley is under a flood watch through Sunday morning as more than 6 inches of rain is possible in the next few days. But as river levels rise, dams are operated by the Miami Conservancy District to prevent catastrophic flooding. The Taylorsville dam is just one of five dams built by the Miami Conservancy District after the Great Dayton Flood of 1913.
Miamisburg man arrested and accused of drug trafficking

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF) -- A 21-year-old Miamisburg was arrested on drug trafficking charges on Tuesday, March 18. Miamisburg Police say detectives from the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit, the TCSU SWAT team and Miamisburg police, executed three search warrants that came out of a long-term drug trafficking investigation. That investigation involves several people who are believed to be working with one another and trafficking methamphetamine and vaping products to juveniles.
Man arrested and accused of selling counterfeit goods at local mall

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio - Federal agents have arrested a man accused of selling counterfeit goods at the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek. The United States Attorney's Office of the Southern District of Ohio, says 25-year-old Emre Teski was taken into custody Thursday. Investigators say Teski ran one kiosk that mostly sold replica professional soccer jerseys and hats containing trademarked soccer teams.
Fire crews investigate massive Darke County barn fire

NEW PARIS, Ohio (WKEF) -- The Ohio State Fire Marshall is being called in to help investigate a major barn fire at a poultry farm. The fire started this morning at a barn at 62 Billman Road in New Paris. Fire crews on scene tell us it was contained to one of the barns at New Madison Pullets Inc. No injuries were reported and it's not clear how many chickens were killed in the fire. New Madison Fire is helping lead the investigation.

Dayton Humane & Co., is set to open in March inside the former Marshall's storefront at Cross Pointe Shopping Center in Centerville. The Humane Society of Greater Dayton says it'll feature clothing and accessories, as well as furniture and home décor.
Layoffs announced at Piqua commercial supplier

PIQUA, Ohio (WKEF) -- An international supplier of products for manufacturing processes and parts, has announced it will be closing its Piqua location impacting 147 employees. Nitto, Inc. sent a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification ACT or WARN letter to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on January 8th. In it, the company says it will be permanently closing its facility at 1620 South Main Street in Piqua. One hundred and forty seven employees will be affected.
Teen girl in critical condition after stabbing

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WKEF) – Huber Heights police are investigating a stabbing at a local park that left a teen girl in critical condition. Police say they responded to Community Park at 5400 Chambersburg Road around 1 p.m. on December 4th after a report of a stabbing between two teen girls. Investigators say the juvenile female suspect ran through the park to get away, but was taken into custody by officers in the 5900 block of Longford Road.

For many of these veterans these trips serve as a chance to find solace and healing following their service to our country and what happened after. On their trip, the veterans will visit the World War II Memorial, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, U.S. Marines War Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
Two suspects arrested in death of 12-year-old Dayton girl

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- Sources at Dayton Police say two suspects have been arrested in the death of a 12-year-old girl who was shot and killed while sleeping in her bed Friday morning. According to the Montgomery County Jail, Antawan Benson and Javen Conner are due in court at 1:45 p.m. Thursday. Benson is booked on a charged of having weapons under disability. Connor is booked on a murder charge.
