    Celtics assistant general manager Austin Ainge has been hired as president of basketball operations of the Utah Jazz, Ainge told the Globe by phone on Monday morning. Ainge, 43, was hired as Boston’s director of player personnel in 2011 and spent the last 14 seasons in the team’s front office. He had a stint as general manager of the team’s G League affiliate in Maine and was named Celtics assistant general manager six years ago, helping build the roster that won the 2024 NBA championship.

    Aditya Mittal, CEO of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, is in line to become the alternate governor of the Celtics following a $1 billion investment as part of Bill Chisholm’s ownership group, according to a source familiar with the transaction. Mittal is expected to eventually become the second-largest stakeholder after Chisholm, with private equity firm Sixth Street, which will be a silent partner, holding the third-largest stake, the source said.
