BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The quest to capture invasive European green crabs is off and running in Blaine. The Northern Light reports around 30 crabs have been caught around Drayton Harbor since March 31 when the 2025 trapping season began. Last year, scientists captured 535 green crabs in the area, the highest number on record. The green crab was first discovered on the Washington coast in the 1980s and has slowly moved northward since.

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Lummi Nation has issued an alert for a missing teen. Edmonds Police say that 16-year-old Tabitha Perez-Running Bear was last seen on Jan. 22. They believe she may be either in the Bellingham or Lynden areas. Perez-Running Bear is known to wear loose fitting jeans and graphic t-shirts. She stands at 5’2″ with brown eyes and dyed brown hair. Anyone with information on her location is asked to call 9-1-1.
