LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) - A phase two trial led by the Dartmouth Cancer Center is focusing on how excess copper in the body could contribute to breast cancer. Copper is an important element for our bodies, but researchers at Dartmouth Health are trying to determine if too much copper causes cancer to spread. "We are so excited about this we can't wait to get started," said Linda Vahdat, deputy director of the Dartmouth Cancer Center.

PEACHAM, Vt. (WCAX) - Communities across the region came closer together in the wake of recent flooding. For one Vermont town, their community extends well outside the country. Not only did volunteers organize in Peacham to help dig out waterlogged homes, they also helped to raise raise a lot of cash for flood victims. Peacham farmer and Youtuber, Morgan Gold, used his online presence to host a 24-hour livestream which documented the damage in Peacham and gave viewers the opportunity to donate.

BARNET, Vt. (WCAX) - Immediately after the floods two weeks ago, 47 state roads were closed due to the damage the high water left in its wake. Now, all but two of them have reopened to at least one lane. It's been more than two weeks since floodwaters washed out roads and bridges across the region. Road crews have been out making repairs and significant progress has been made. Road crews moved earth Friday in front of the Barnet Village Store, which is now a huge crater.

PEACHAM, Vt. (WCAX) - A community-led fundraising effort in Peacham is helping families pay for needed supplies after the flooding two weeks ago, including residents who are still mourning the loss of one of their own. Dump trucks loaded with fill on Wednesday were making regular trips down Main Street in Peacham as signs of flooding surrounded nearby houses.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (WCAX) - Some flooded-out businesses in Lyndonville are starting to get back on their feet nearly two weeks after devastating flooding. But for some, the road to recovery could be a long one. Mountain View Auto has been fixing and selling cars in Lyndonville for the past 40 years. But on Tuesday, it was day two of being back open after the flood. A gutted truck interior was among the vehicles getting a deep clean. The office -- from the floor up -- is also in need of repairs.
