A 30-year-old man died Tuesday night after being shot in a parking garage at The Galleria shopping mall, according to the Houston Police Department. The man, whose identity had not been released as of early Wednesday afternoon, was found with multiple gunshot wounds at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken by paramedics to Ben Taub Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 11 p.m., police said.

HOUSTON — A man who made online death threats aimed at the family of Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. lives overseas and was intoxicated at the time and told Houston police he was sorry for what he had done, a department spokesperson said Monday. McCullers received the threats on social media directed at his children after a poor start against the Cincinnati Reds on May 10. The Astros said Houston police and MLB security were notified. McCullers and his wife Kara have two young daughters.

More than nine months after Landon Payton collapsed and died during a P.E. class at Marshall Middle School, it remains unclear how exactly he died and whether the Houston ISD employees on hand that day could have saved him. The last day of the Texas 2025 legislative session is here, and after 140 days at the Capitol in Austin, the state Legislature has passed more than 3,400 bills and resolutions. The pathway there was filled with the usual complaints of not doing enough, contentious debates, rallies hosted by advocates and horse trading between lawmakers. But during all of that, some extremely significant pieces of legislation passed both chambers and are headed to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk.

An oft-used freeway exit on the east side of downtown Houston is expected to be closed through June as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) completes drainage work as part of its long-term overhaul of Interstate 45. Construction began last fall on TxDOT's North Houston Highway Improvement Project, which has been years in the making and is expected to take the better part of two decades to complete.
