DiscussionOur study illustrates the utility of using abortive virus infections as a screening tool to identify IEPs and the host immunity factors they target. From this work, we identify a variety of bacterially-encoded proteins capable of rescuing individual arbovirus infections, as well as six that are capable of rescuing all four viruses screened.

Moms tend to worry about their babies, especially when those babies are leaving the nest for college. Some moms worry so much that they have turned to hiring a fake “college mom.”According to an article by USA Today, Mindy Horwitz created a service in 2019 called “mindyKNOWS,” where college parents can pay a local to be there for their students when they cannot. The “concierge moms” are women hired to watch over young adults as they transition to living on their own.

So-called “iPad kids” are a popular subject with this generation. An iPad Kid is a child that is seemingly glued to their iPad or tablet. Since technology is a permanent fixture and only evolving, it has raised the question, how much is too much? Having a child can be difficult, especially when going into public. A lot of parents have decided to give an iPad to their children to distract or entertain them but now are feeling like children are relying on them.

GC kicked off this year’s Homecoming festivities on Feb 12, by the Centennial Center with the annual Homecoming Parade. Campus organizations decorated a car or float, then drove around town spreading Bobcat spirit. “It’s just the best of all days on the Georgia College campus,” said Cathy Cox, the GC president. Cox supported every organization with a smile, loud cheers and lots of photos.

COVID-19 changed the way everyone lives their daily lives. Everything, from school to work to concerts, has changed greatly from the way it was prior to the pandemic. One of the things that changed the most is the way universities are run. Before the pandemic, online classes were very sparse and not very common. Now, if a professor misses a class, that class is not canceled. It is now online. But it is not just those things that have changed. Standardized tests have changed as well.

Sink your teeth into GC’s newest club: the Vampire Club. The club meets once a month and discusses everything from vampire literature to their personal favorite vampires. The Vampire Club kicked off in October 2023 with an interest meeting and then was officially started in January 2024 by Savannah Schofield, a junior English Major. “We started Vampire Club to provide a place for people who love vampire-related media to get together and share their favorite things about vampires,” Schofield said.
