Louise Scott-Gallagher passed away peacefully in New Zealand aged 44. Originally from Co Tyrone, she had been diagnosed with cancer in 2023 when she was 11 weeks pregnant. She died at her home in Lake Hayes, Queenstown, on New Zealand’s South Island on May 20. Louise previously worked as a journalist with the Tyrone Constitution and Tyrone Courier newspapers. Later, she was a press officer for the UUP.

Peter Gallagher (44), from Toomebridge in Co Londonderry, was shot and fatally wounded while arriving for work at the Westlink Enterprise Centre in west Belfast in 1993. The Police Ombudsman investigated the case after a complaint from Mr Gallagher’s family. Marie Anderson’s report found that although 12 people should have been of interest to the murder investigation, none were arrested. This was despite some being linked by significant intelligence and other information.

Sue Pentel was one of two women held on suspicion of criminal damage after an incident on Saturday. The 72-year-old Jewish grandmother is a high-profile campaigner against Israel’s military action in Gaza. Her solicitor said she was arrested “whilst peacefully protesting against the ongoing genocide in Palestine at Barclays Bank”. According to reports, the two women were arrested after stickers promoting a boycott of the bank were allegedly placed on an ATM.

A woman has been arrested after a car struck a man before leaving the scene. The incident happened in Killyleagh, Co Down, last night. Police said a man suffered serious injuries. A second woman narrowly avoided being struck. A woman was later arrested in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim - nearly 30 miles away. The PSNI said: “Around 8.15pm, it was reported that a white Nissan Juke struck a male pedestrian in the area of Braeside Gardens.
