Voters will decide on those budgets for Town Meeting Day, even though Barre has already delayed its budget vote. Barre and Montpelier were both devastated by the same flood, but there’s a stark difference in how the flood has constricted their budgets.

Montpelier, VT- The Vermont Senate did not have enough votes to override Gov. Phil Scott’s veto of a bill that would have given the state’s bottle redemption system its first update since the 1970s. Seventeen senators voted to override the veto, which falls just short of the twenty required for the override to succeed.
