DORCHESTER, Mass. (WPRI) — An Attleboro woman has won $1 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery for the second time in 10 weeks. Christine Wilson won her second $1 million prize playing the state’s “100X Cash” $10 game. Her first $1 million win came on Feb. 23 from the $50 “Lifetime Millions” game.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — About 2,600 Rhode Islanders who didn’t file federal tax returns in 2020 are still eligible to claim refunds and Economic Impact Payments, according to U.S. Senator Jack Reed. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said nearly $1 billion in refunds and rebates from the 2020 tax season are still unclaimed, with an estimated $2.98 million of those funds owed to Rhode Islanders.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Anyone interested in a career in emergency medical services (EMS) can now register for a new program in New Bedford. The New Bedford EMT Training Academy offers 180 hours of classroom and hands-on instruction to prepare students for their state certification test and a “rewarding, in-demand career,” Mayor Jon Mitchell said in a press release. The academy covers a “wide range of subjects,” according to the city, including first aid, EMS operations, anatomy and physiology.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Ocean State will celebrate its Independence Day this weekend by opening the R.I. State House to the public for both guided and self-guided tours. Rhode Island Independence Day is celebrated on May 4, which is the same day in 1776 when the state became the first colony to renounce its allegiance to England.
