    An assault case involving a stabbing last Monday in Pontiac has resulted in a criminal charge filed against the person stabbed, rather than the one who yielded the weapon. Kenya Jovar Miller, 45, of Pontiac, is facing a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery in connection with the Memorial Day incident on Baldwin Avenue. Miller suffered what the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office described as a “severe stab wound” to the abdomen and underwent surgery.

    A Sterling Heights man is facing a felony charge for allegedly stealing new tires from a Troy car dealership. Mike Wardone, 63, is charged with larceny over $1,000 but less than $20,000 — punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a hefty fine. He’s accused of taking eight new tires from Suburban Chrysler on Maplelawn Drive, where they had been delivered May 20 but then reported missing from the drop-off site, police said.

    A 77-year-old woman who had been accused of stealing Barbie dolls from a Target store in Bloomfield Township has been sentenced on an amended charge. At a hearing Wednesday in 48th District Court, Judge Marc Barron sentenced Vijaya Chalichama Rao of Bloomfield Township to 18 months reporting probation for a misdemeanor charge of disorderly person. She was initially charged with 3rd-degree retail fraud, also a misdemeanor. Rao pleaded guilty last month.

    A Farmington Hills man is facing felony charges for an alleged domestic incident involving gunfire that led to a standoff with police. Aaron Gilmore, 40, is charged with discharge of a firearm in a building and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person for the May 25 incident at a home in the 26000 block of Barbados Road.
