Families lined up Friday morning in Royal Oak for the annual marshmallow drop. An Easter-time favorite for children, the Great Marshmallow Drop was moved to a new location this year in Worden Park, hosted by the Oakland County Parks and Recreation. Youngsters were divided into groups based on age and awaited the arrival of the helicopter, which released 15,000 marshmallows in total. The marshmallows were then traded in for prizes.

Those cool, wet and windy days of spring are expected to give way − at least for a day − to a day with high temperatures at or near 80 degrees. Weather forecasts for Good Friday predict a high of 79 and possibly 80 degrees before winds pick up to 30-40 mph and potential severe thunderstorms late in the day.
