According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just after 4:15 a.m. in the 4500 block of Brentwood Avenue near Alder Street. Investigators say a man in his mid-30s was driving southbound in a newer Acura when the vehicle veered across the northbound lanes and struck a concrete utility pole.

    Published: May 24, 2025 at 10:27 AMPUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old Gainesville man was killed early Saturday morning when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash occurred around 3:39 a.m. on State Road 21, north of State Road 20. The driver lost control of his vehicle, went off the roadway, and hit a tree. Putnam County Fire and Rescue responded and declared the driver dead at the scene.
