The Times (Gainesville, GA)

The Times (Gainesville, GA)

In 2004, The Times became part of Morris Multimedia Inc., a major media company based in Georgia and one of the largest privately-owned media organizations in the U.S. This company was established in 1970 by Charles H. Morris in Savannah, Georgia. The newspaper initially included "Gainesville" in its title, but this was removed in the early 2000s to showcase its wider reach. The term "Daily" was also dropped in 1972, simplifying the name to just The Times. In January 2007, the newspaper marked its 60th anniversary. Today, The Times and its online platform, gainesvilletimes.com, continue to uphold the values set by its founders, Charles and Lessie Smithgall. The newspaper is dedicated to delivering high-quality news coverage, with a special emphasis on Northeast Georgia.
