A Thursday morning statement from an attorney for Mel Tucker indicated the former Michigan State University football coach would not attend a hearing scheduled to begin Thursday afternoon over allegations that he sexually harassed a woman he invited to speak to the MSU football team.

Mel Tucker’s legal team sent a letter this morning to MSU interim president Teresa K. Woodruff and the board of trustees. The letter says quote “Under the Office of Institutional Equity rules, we are prohibited from participating in the hearing scheduled for October 5th and 6th because Mr. Tucker is not available due to a serious medical condition.”The 106 page document also outlines quote “new evidence that undermines MSU’s decision to terminate Mr. Tucker” - end quote.

(MPRN) Michigan State University has informed football coach Mel Tucker in a letter that it intends to terminate his contract. In the notice sent on Monday afternoon, Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller states that “The University has become aware of various facts that have led to the unfortunate decision to terminate your employment for cause.”Haller also said Tucker has seven calendar days to respond and present reasons to him and interim president Teresa K.
