Mother-of-six Lisa-Marie Fitzgerald was among the 120 Gardaí who were attested as sworn members of An Garda Síochána on Friday. The new garda will now take on operational responsibilities and will be allocated in Buncrana, one of 18 recruits for the North Western Region, which is made up of Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim. Garda Lisa-Marie was joined by five of her children at the Garda College as she passed out and will be stationed in Buncrana.

There were Donegal successes at the LEAP Irish Law Awards as the winners were revealed at a gala awards ceremony at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin, hosted by Anton Savage on Friday night. The Sole Practitioner of the Year was won by Gaoth Dobhair native Natasha McDermott, from McDermott Solicitors in Burt, while the Lawyer of the Year for Connacht/Ulster went to David McGinley, McGinley Solicitors LLP, in Letterkenny and Milford.

Early morning rain over Donegal will clear eastwards by mid-morning. Sunny spells and showers will follow, some heavy and a few possibly thundery. They will die out through the late afternoon and early evening. Cool with highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees and moderate northwest winds. Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells. Later in the night some showers will move into the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees with light west and southwest breezes.

A man was arrested in Muff last night following a collision on Main Street. At approximately 8:30pm on Friday, Gardaí and the local fire services responded to the collision, where a 4x4 vehicle struck two parked cars. The driver, an adult male, was arrested under the Road Traffic Act and has since been charged to appear before the district court later this month.
