Volunteers with AT&T broke two world records this week to help kids get ready for the next school year. They set records for the most backpacks filled with school supplies in one hour and most volunteers filling backpacks simultaneously. Volunteers filled 10,000 backpacks in one hour breaking the previous record of 7,039. A total of 633 people were working simultaneously breaking the record of 255. Both numbers were verfied by the Guiness Book of World Records.

Opal Lee will not be able to lead a walk marking Juneteenth Thursday. Lee led the effort to create a national holiday for Juneteenth marking the day Union troops arrived in Galveston to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation at the end of the Civil War. Lee, 98, spent time in the hospital in May after a health issue while traveling to accept an award at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a shooting in Weatherford involving an off-duty officer Sunday. The officer works for Arlington Police. The Texas Department of Public Safety says Weatherford Police received a 911 call about 1 p.m. Sunday about a burglary at a business along Interstate 20. DPS says officers found the business had been broken into, and "the business owner stopped the burglary."DPS later confirmed the suspect is dead.

Protesters who held demonstrations in cities around the Metroplex this weekend say they are now looking ahead. "No Kings" protests had been organized across the country Saturday. In Fort Worth, several hundred people met in Burnett Park in the western part of Downtown. Police say the demonstration stayed peaceful. "We appreciated those who remained respectful, lawful, and peaceful as you made your voices heard," the department posted on X after the protest.
