The Vatican announced Chicago Cardinal Robert Prevost would take the place of Pope Francis and take the name Leo XIV. Pope Leo XIV celebrated his first Mass as pontiff Friday morning at the Vatican. Dallas Police say a child was injured in a shooting Wednesday night. They received a 911 call about gunfire at an apartment complex near Simpson Stuart and Bonnie View just after 8 p.m.Police arrived and found a child had been shot. They have not released the kid's age or gender, but the child was stable when Dallas Fire Rescue took them to the hospital. Police say the gunman had left by the time officers arrived. Thursday morning, they had not announced any arrests or a description of a suspect.

Arlington Police have expanded their use of drones. The department is the first in Texas and among the first in the country to operate drones remotely. Until now, certified officers had to carry drones in their cars and set them up at a scene. The FAA requires drones to be operated within the pilot's line of sight. Arlington Police have received a waiver to fly drones over greater distances.
