    Young PACTRAC prospect Ophelia Goodale took 2nd place in her age group at the Darley Moor Junior Duathlon. ​After a good first run, Goodale saw her main adversary pull away slightly on the bike, and with the pair running at a similar pace in the second run, she had to settle for second place just 18 seconds adrift of the winner. Goodale finished in 18.38 in the Tristar 2 event with clubmate Hugo Flikweert finishing 13th in 19:35. In the Tristar 1 race PACTRAC’s Byron Stother finished 10th in 17:02.

    Former Peterborough United winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has made a shock decision to drop down two divisions for the 2025-26 season. The 33 year-old was released by Championship side Derby County at the end of last season and has now joined League Two title favourites MK Dons. Mendez-Laing will link up with his old Rams boss Paul Warne at Stadium MK.

    ‘Jumping’ Jess Marriott has edged closer to a British BMX title. The 15 year-old Peterborough BMX Club star is riding up an age group, but took both wins in the female 16s category in rounds five and six of the Lloyds British Cycling National series at Manchester Platts Fields. The city club sent 21 riders to the event with creditable A Final results also earned by Dylan Dixon (2nd and 4th), Krystian Garbarczyk (4th & 8th), Owen Putland (5th) and Layla Dixon (8th).

    Peterborough City Rowing Club have recorded 12 wins from its mens, womens, juniors and masters squads in the May regattas to date. Racing over 2000m, the senior women’s squad scored the club’s only winner at the Nottingham City Regatta. The women’s development coxed four of Keely Watson, Eleanor Dean, Bianca Manganiello, Gina Gould and cox Sarah Watson beat Agecroft, Curlew, City of Oxford and Durham in their final in a time of 7 mins 59 seconds.

    Top Yard Boxing Club star Aamir Shirazi just missed out on his bid to secure a rare Manchester Box Cup double. Shirazi won gold at the prestigious event at the Leigh Sports Village last year and cruised back into the 57kg final with a polished semi-final win against Yorkshire’s Frazer Broadhead from Batley ABC. Shirazi won every round comfortably to take him into the final against another top teenage talent Tyree Holden from Fleetwood ABC.
