    Darren Ferguson will become the first manager to win the EFL Trophy three times if Peterborough United beat Birmingham City at Wembley on Sunday. Ferguson would also become the first manager to win the EFL Trophy in back-to-back-seasons with the same club. Lou Macari won it in successive seasons with Birmingham City (1991) and Stoke City (1992). Ferguson also won the Trophy as a player, scoring for Wrexham in a 2-0 win over Southend at the Millennium Stadium in 2005.

    Peterborough United are now selling tickets for their Easter Monday trip to Barnsley (3pm kick off) and the penultimate League One game of the season at Mansfield Town on Wednesday, October 30. Posh fans will be accommodated in the covered seating behind the goal (North Stand) at Barnsley. Tickets are cheaper if purchased in advance.

    A very young Peterborough United side featuring 16 year-old schoolboy striker Bolu Shofowoke claimed a splendid 2-1 win at Watford in a Professional Development Under 21 League game on Friday. Goals in the first quarter of the game from a trialist forward and Fabian Claxton, and a superb penalty save from Posh ‘keeper Bastian Smith, essentially won the game. The hosts replied from a second spot-kick on 63 minutes, but another terrific Smith stop 15 minutes from protected the slim Posh lead.

    Peterborough United will be making their final plans for Wembley as the League One relegation dogfight continues without them on Saturday. Posh should have had a big game at fellow strugglers Mansfield Town on Saturday, but instead are tackling League One champions-elect Birmingham City in the final of the Vertu Trophy. Both Posh and ‘The Stags’ will drop two places tomorrow if Wigan Athletic and Northampton Town secure surprise home wins against Wrexham and Reading respectively.

    Harlee Hooker continued his outstanding form with two gold medals at the ISKA (International Sport Kickboxing Association) English Championships in Gloucester. And HIcks Martial Arts Club teammate Josh Leonard also won gold with both boys now automatically invited to compete in the World ISKA Championships in Australia later this year. Hooker (15) has really come good in recent events as he also claimed victory in a tough WSKA event in Doncaster last month.
