For the first time since 1968, the Ohio University football team has captured the Mid-American Conference Championship, defeating archrival Miami 38-3 in the title game on Saturday at Ford Field in the Motor City. The RedHawks (8-5, 7-1 MAC) — last season’s MAC Champion — scored first on Saturday, going 64 yards in 11 plays and settling for a 29-yard field goal by Dom Dzioban.

    ATHENS, Ohio — The Bobcats went Black Friday shopping and came back with a trip to the Motor City. The Ohio University football team clinched its spot in the Mid-American Conference Championship game on Friday afternoon inside Peden Stadium, defeating guest Ball State 42-21 in the regular season finale. The Bobcats (9-3, 7-1) — who were undefeated on Frank Solich field this season — got things going 2:42 into play as Parker Navarro hit Coleman Owen for a 50-yard touchdown pass.

The Point Pleasant football team defeated non-conference guest Winfield 55-34 in the season finale on Friday at Ohio Valley Bank Track and Field in Mason County — in the final game for 18th-year head coach David Darst. The Big Blacks (4-5) — who wound up out of the playoffs despite entering the week at No. 16 in the Class AAA Playoff Rankings — fell behind 7-0 to the Generals (4-6), with WHS going 91-yards in 18 plays on the game’s opening drive.

    KENT, Ohio — A highlight-filled day in all-three phases. The Ohio football team defeated Mid-American Conference host Kent State 41-0 on Wednesday in Dix Stadium, with the Bobcats scoring two special teams touchdowns in the victory. Ohio (6-3, 4-1 MAC) — which became bowl eligible with the victory — took a 3-0 lead 6:30 into play with a 42-yard field goal from Gianni Spetic.
