The country’s largest federal appeals court on Friday upheld a federal law banning non-violent felons from owning guns, ruling that it doesn’t infringe the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms. The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in an en banc decision, said its decision aligns with four other federal circuit courts that have have reached a similar conclusion about the federal ban.

The litigation to unseat Democratic North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs came to a definitive end Wednesday, with the concession of her GOP challenger who sought to toss 65,000 votes. “This effort has always been about upholding the rule of law and making sure that every legal vote in an election is counted,” North Carolina Appeals Court Judge Jefferson Griffin (R) said in a statement, ending his six-month challenge to his election loss.
