NEW YORK – Without a doubt, the 2026 Subaru Outback’s redesign is the most radical in this model’s long history. Even vehicles built in American plants will be affected, with an estimated 50% of their parts coming from outside the country.

If President Donald Trump's new tariff scheme was announced one day earlier, you could have written it off as a poorly conceived April Fools’ Day joke. However, import taxes are very real, and they will have far-reaching consequences around the globe. Perhaps no other segment will be hit as hard as the auto industry, and consumers, who will end up paying more out of pocket for a wide swath of goods, will share their pain.
