FLINT — Bethany Hazard believes she will die before anyone is held accountable for the poisoning of Flint’s water. In the decade since lead and other contaminants infiltrated the city’s water supply and set off the country’s largest man-made public health disaster, Hazard and thousands of others have watched criminal charges against state officials fail to see a day in court and promised settlement money stall in its disbursement.

Downtown Boston buzzed with anticipation Sunday morning as athletes, tourists, fans and residents prepared for the 129th running of the Boston Marathon, which is expected to draw 30,000 runners and hundreds of thousands of spectators to the historic 26.2 mile route from Hopkinton to Boylston Street. Frank Bright, an 82-year-old retired lawyer and chemical engineer from Louisiana, ambled down Boylston Street wearing in his 2009 marathon jacket.

Hundreds of people filtered into the pews at Trinity Church in Copley Square on Easter morning. The sounds of organs playing and the choir signing filled the air with “Alleluia, alleluia!”The Rev. Morgan Allen, the rector of the church, told congregants during his sermon that they can make Easter Sunday what they want it to be, just as they can control the love and light they bring to life. “For only kindness can win the world for kindness,” he said.
