(WSET) — A panel of 27 potential jurors has been selected for the trial of Justin Sales, who is charged with the 2019 murder of 92-year-old Doris Puleio and the shooting of her daughter, Trudy Goetz. Sales faces charges of aggravated murder, malicious wounding, attempted robbery, and firearm offenses. Jury selection, which began at 9 a.m., went a lot faster than they planned. They set aside Wednesday and Friday.

Austin Lane received an active sentence of seven years, and Treavon Taylor received an active sentence of seven years for charges including robbery, burglary, and use of a firearm.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — A Nelson County judge has denied bond for the second time to Katelynn Hipes, the woman charged with killing a man in April, according to the Nelson County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. In May, a general district court judge initially denied Hipes bond, but her attorneys appealed the decision. During today's court proceedings, a friend of Hipes testified that he was on a FaceTime call with Kevin Small when Hipes allegedly dropped the phone.
