“Oh my gosh, I’m so overstimulated.”This buzzword, which has popped up more frequently on social media and in daily conversations, refers to the we feel when ambushed by an overload of sensory information, including loud sounds, strong smells, crowds, certain unpleasant touch, lights and more. Experiencing any combination of such sensory information can then lead to feelings of anxiety, panic, discomfort, restlessness and irritability. So why is everyone “overstimulated” all of a sudden?

To ring in the holiday season, Mayor Michelle Wu visited neighborhoods around Boston to light up the city’s Christmas trees, bringing cheer, treats and visits from Christmas characters to all of the city’s communities. Beginning Dec. 7, The Enchanted Trolley Tour and Tree Lightings made its 28th annual festive trip through the city.

Down a few stairs inside a historic church at the end of Newbury Street lies what some say is the best spot in the city for lunch — and the kicker is that it’s always free for those in need. Women’s Lunch Place, or WLP, a daytime women’s shelter, welcomes anyone who identifies as female, regardless of their financial or housing situation, to enjoy a plethora of offered services, which include hot meals, showers, housing and mental health resources and an array of community events.

The LGBTQ community, allies and Bostonians alike decorated in the colors of the rainbow lined the city’s streets June 8 for the Boston Pride for the People parade. Pride parades take place around the U.S. throughout June to celebrate the LGBTQ community and honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, a key event in the Gay Liberation Movement.

Across Boston campuses, students, faculty and staff have set up encampments in support of Palestine. Protests have garnered attention from many Boston-based and national news outlets amid a nationwide wave of pro-Palestine campus activism. Protesters with Huskies for a Free Palestine, or HFP, began forming an encampment on Centennial Common Thursday morning at 8 a.m.Multiple news stations deployed helicopters, capturing the protests from above.
