SUN CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — Two people are dead and another is hospitalized following a shooting in Sun City late Thursday night. Deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office received reports of shots fired in a neighborhood near 99th Avenue and Bell Road just after 11 p.m. Deputies arrived to find three people who had been shot, including a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene and a man who was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona Diamondbacks are celebrating a win off the field as a bill to help fund renovations at the team’s ballpark cleared a hurdle at the State Capitol late Thursday night. HB 2704 passed through the Senate, which would redirect $500 million in tax dollars spent at the stadium to repair the nearly 30-year-old Chase Field, one of the oldest ballparks in Major League Baseball.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says deputies received reports of shots fired in a neighborhood near 99th Avenue and Bell Road just after 11 p.m. While details remain limited at this time, authorities confirmed that two people were killed. The victims have not been identified. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office says no suspects are outstanding at this time.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona Humane Society is urging pet owners to keep their beloved animals indoors as extreme heat takes over the Valley. AHS officials say in the last three weeks, seven dogs have died from the heat in Maricopa County. Tracey Miiller, Director of Field Operations for AHS, says a majority of cases involved dogs left outside in a backyard or patio with no water or shelter. In one case, a dog was tethered to a leash.
