TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Marana Police Department has a new device to help map out crime scenes. It’s a Trimble X9 scanner and it’s been on the department’s wish list for years. It uses lasers to measure crime scenes. Usually, investigators would do all of this by hand by drawing out the crime scene. But now, this machine takes care of it. “It sends a laser out and uses a data mapping with point cloud, so it knows where things are,” said MPD Crime Scene Specialist Taylor Pitzer.
