    OREGON – An Ogle County judge Friday ruled an Oregon man guilty of six counts of criminal sexual assault and one of battery of a minor girl after a bench trial in November. James S. Clevenger III, 61, formerly of Sterling, faces at least six to 30 years in prison on each assault charge, and one to three years for the battery at his sentencing. His next hearing is March 13. The bench trial was held Nov. 14 and 29 before Judge Ben Roe, Ogle County Court records show.

    THOMSON – The Sportsmen’s Banquet will be Saturday, Feb. 24, at Majestic Pines, Thomson. Outdoorsmen and their families are encouraged to attend. The mid-winter sportsmen’s banquet is hosted by the Mississippi Flyway Waterfowlers. The event includes a meal, live auction, silent auction and many raffles. Organizers plan on a large ladies’ raffle and dice raffle. A deer hunter’s raffle will include a deer ground blind, hunting gear and food plot seed.

    Glenbard East sophomore guard Michael Nee is a workhorse. After starting 29 of 32 games last season, Nee has started every game this season for the Rams. His durability and consistency helped the Rams inch closer to a .500 record, averaging 17 points per game. Nee said playing last season on the varsity gave him a head start on how to handle his final three years. “It helped me adjust to the pace and defense,” Nee said.

    Mick “Stan” Johnson is on the lookout for a “Wayne’s World” T-shirt, circa 1992, with the film’s “Exsqueeze me?” catch phrase imprinted in neon pink. That may be his holy grail of vintage clothing, second only to one he already owns: a T-shirt from Disney’s 1999 “Tarzan” movie. Only a few copies of the Tarzan shirt are still known to exist among collectors, and he has one of them, Johnson said. “That T-shirt is one of the rarest made,” Johnson claimed.

    The Aurora Navy League Council 247 will host its monthly in-person dinner meeting Tuesday, Feb 20. A reception will be at 5 p.m., followed by a meeting at 5:30 p.m. and dinner afterward. The meeting will conclude by 8 p.m. The public is welcome; you do not need to be a member or make a reservation to attend. The meeting will be in the private room of the Riverview Diner, 1420 Southeast River Road (Route 25) and Mill Street in Montgomery.
