Doda, April 16 – A 70-year-old woman was found dead in a suspected case of hanging at her home in the Droundi area of Bhalla tehsil in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir’s Chenab Valley on Wednesday, police said. The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was discovered by family members hanging from a window inside her residence, according to initial information obtained by The Chenab Times. Authorities were immediately alerted following the discovery.

SRINAGAR, March 14 – In a bid to protect Kashmir’s iconic Chinar trees from illegal felling and environmental threats, authorities have launched a “Digital Tree Aadhaar” initiative, assigning unique identification numbers to thousands of Chinars across the region. The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Research Institute (JKFRI) has geotagged 28,560 Chinar trees using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and QR codes, enabling real-time tracking and monitoring, officials said.
