Dainik Jagran, also known as Daily Awakening, is a prominent daily newspaper in India published in Hindi. By 2017, it became the leading newspaper in the country in terms of circulation. In 2010, it ranked as the 17th most widely read newspaper globally. The newspaper was first established in 1942 by Puran Chandra Gupta and was later edited by Narendra Mohan. It is owned by Jagran Prakashan Limited, a publishing firm that is publicly traded on both the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India. Additionally, Jagran Prakashan Limited expanded its portfolio by acquiring Mid Day in 2010 and Naiduniya in 2012.
