A diver left behind by in the ocean for several hours before being picked up by a passing ferry has welcomed an investigation into the incident. It is understood two men were in the water for several hours after their tour boat returned to shore without them. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority says it will take action "should a breach of safety regulations or procedures be identified".

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has confirmed it is investigating an incident involving two scuba divers who were left in the ocean during a group trip off the coast of Perth almost two weeks ago. The ABC has been told the pair were spotted in the water by a crew member aboard a Rottnest ferry that was returning to Hillarys, about two to three nautical miles off the coast.

128 pilot whales have died in two mass strandings in WA in the past 18 months, and scientists are looking for answers. Tests on a number of dead pilot whales ruled out common infections, but found salmonella, which hasn't been seen in pilot whales previously. The researchers still don't have a definitive explanation for the strandings, and will continue their research.

Several companies owned by troubled Perth home builder, Nicheliving, have gone into external administration after it struck a deal with the state government which stripped the company of its building registration. KordaMentha has been appointed to restructure three Nicheliving Group divisions, Projex Management and Construction, Rubix Future and Building, and parent company Nicheliving Holdings.

The owner of a crane hired by a deregistered building company says he holds little hope he will be paid the $70,000 the company owes. The crane, looming over a stalled building development by company Nicheliving in Perth's inner northern suburbs, has stood still for months, which its owner says is symbolic of bigger problems in the building industry.
