When Royal Australian Air Force Chaplain Haydn Lea spotted four World War II medals at an auction in Perth late last year, his interest was piqued. "There were four original medals," he told Mark Gibson on ABC Radio Perth. "The medals themselves were OK, but the ribbons attached to them were all tattered and fallen apart a bit."A fifth medal issued to the same person was also on sale separately. The Western Australian Labor Party's promise to introduce a $5,000 subsidy for residential batteries if it is re-elected has caused some customers to cancel orders while they await the scheme's potential introduction. Premier Roger Cook made the election commitment at the party's official campaign launch on the weekend. The commitment offers one-off rebates of up to $5,000 for Synergy customers and up to $7,500 for Horizon Power customers in regional WA to purchase a home battery.
