Political Leader-elect of the People’s National Movement (PNM), Pennelope Beckles, and newly elected General Secretary of the party, Foster Cummings, appeared unfazed by reports of a lower turnout at the party’s recent internal election. Police said a 45-year-old man was ordered to undergo an assessment at St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital, after he appeared in court Monday, charged with the murder of his father, Peter Banfield. In an update, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said Christopher Banfield, of Flanagin Town, was charged with the offence, when he appeared before Master Whitney Franklin in North Court ‘C’, on June 23, 2025. The matter will next be heard on July 8, 2025.
