    News THE TOBAGO Business Chamber wants a meeting with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. The chamber’s chairman Martin George said there are several front-burner items the organisation would like to discuss with the UNC-led coalition government as it relates to Tobago’s budget allocation and outlook for fiscal 2025-2026. He said one of its main priority items will be the "immediate and unconditional" repeal of the Foreign Investment Act.

    Tobago TOBAGO stakeholders have applauded Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s inaugural address as Prime Minister. Persad-Bissessar was sworn in as Trinidad and Tobago’s ninth head of government during a ceremony at President’s House, St Ann’s, on May 1. President Christine Kangaloo administered the oath of office. It is Persad-Bissessar’s second stint as prime minister. She previously served as PM from 2010-2015 in the UNC-led People’s Partnership administration.

    Tobago SECRETARY of Finance, Trade and the Economy Petal-Ann Roberts claims the Farley Augustine-led administration has inherited the highest liability in the history of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) – approximately $1 billion. She said to date, the administration has not been able to settle all of its debts and it was hoping for a meeting with the incoming Minister of Finance next week to air concerns and perhaps devise a strategy to resolve the situation.
