"Motorists should expect travel delays, especially during peak morning and afternoon traffic periods," a statement from the Army Corps of Engineers reads. The maintenance work is described as steel repairs to two expansion joints. The lane closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28. Wide loads will not be allowed onto the bridge. "This short-duration maintenance is critical to the long-term serviceability of the Bourne Bridge," the Army Corps of Engineers statement said.
