    The Ed and Tim Vaughan juggernaut continued to roll on Saturday’s meeting at Ystradowen. Hot on the heels of his first win on a course proper the sixteen-year-old wonder boy proceeded to claim five of the seven available races. It was an impressive twenty-four hours, and you definitely get the feeling that it’s not over yet. Victory was denied of Ed in the opener however, the Llangeinor Pentyrch Hunt Members race. The laurels went to David Brace’s grand old campaigner Pink Eyed Pedro.

    After months of heavy rain and re-arrangements the Curre and Llangibby Hunt finally held their meeting in blazing sunshine this past Sunday, at the picturesque Howick course just outside Chepstow. It was good to be back in the pointing field in South Wales and a healthy crowd enjoyed the day after what has been a long wet winter. The first race on the card was the Curre and Llangibby Hunt Farmers and Subscribers race, run in memory of Patience Stratton.

    Racing returns to Ystradowen this coming Sunday after several years absence. The undulating track holds a few tight corners, and its make-up has always served to bring horses together and offered exiting finishes in the past. Sadly, the initial meeting to have instigated the return to the course, that of the Glamorgan Hunt, was abandoned falling foul, as have so many this year, to the wet winter. Five of the six entries in the opener the Hunt Members race have a rating of over one hundred.
