The Santa Fe City Council will hold a special meeting on June 3 to decide whether to hire a new operator and end the existing lease with the Interfaith Community Shelter, commonly known as Pete's Place. Santa Fe's community health and safety director, Henri Hammond-Paul, told KOAT that part of the reason the city wants to part ways is because of a "public safety emergency." "A very small geographic area in our city is basically drawing enormous amounts of first responders," Hammond-Paul said.

The Barcelona Suites hotel was forced to close its doors on Thursday, following an inspection from the city of Albuquerque that found "numerous, serious safety violations based on unsanitary and dangerous conditions." City leaders plan to host a press conference on Friday afternoon to announce further details on the inspection.A large police presence was seen outside the hotel on Thursday afternoon.

A federal judge is allowing a lawsuit to proceed, brought by New Mexico and 13 other states -- that alleges Elon Musk was not "properly" appointed to his high-level position, and has been illegally making sweeping changes to the federal government since. Lawyers for the Trump administration had asked for the case to be thrown out. "This was the first challenge that the Trump administration made to this lawsuit, and they lost," KOAT Legal Expert John Day said.

Zia Pueblo officials say they hit "roadblock after roadblock" in their search for Army veteran Solomon Pino in early May. The search ended on May 5th, finding Pino's remains around a week after he was last seen. "Solomon Pino was real nice. He was a real nice man," Zia Pueblo Governor Lambert Pino told KOAT. The 75-year-old left his home to go hunting on April 29 driving his black pickup truck. He told his family he was going towards Grants, and potentially Mount Taylor.

A pursuit for a suspect turned into a water rescue last week, according to the Durango Police Department. The agency released body cam videos of the incident on Tuesday.Jose Juan Aguilar Uribe, who had a warrant for his arrest due to a domestic violence call, was seen by an officer on May 16 around 8 p.m. local time, according to Durango PD Special Operations Commander Devin Conroy. Uribe was stopped in the vehicle he was in and then ran away, Conroy told KOAT.
