As we approach AMA’s 100th anniversary in 2026, we share some of the stories that serve as the foundation of our club. For many Albertans, their first memory associated with AMA is their time as School Safety Patrollers—when they were “superheroes of the sidewalk,” keeping their classmates safe. All eyes on Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) scene were to the west when Edmonton played host to EVVE, the annual conference of Electric Mobility Canada (EMC). Hundreds of industry leaders from the electric mobility and automotive space—including the Alberta Motor Association—gathered to discuss the latest in programs, policies and research supporting Canada’s EV transition. Edmonton may not seem like the obvious choice as host city for the annual conference.

Here’s a refresher—just in case—courtesy of the Driver Education team at AMA. Scan ahead On city streets, drivers should look 12 to 15 seconds ahead—or one city block. On the highway, make that 20 to 30 seconds. Black-ice watch When temperatures hit between +4°C and -4°C, ice is typically not visible. Slow down.
