    Eight bodies have been recovered in Portland rivers in the past three weeks. The first was found April 13. The below map shows where the bodies were recovered. The three most recent bodies found were on Saturday, May 3. Two were found in the Willamette River and one in the Columbia River. KATU News spoke with George Donnerberg who was out fishing with his son this past weekend and spotted one of the bodies. He says his son thought he saw a sea lion at first, before they got closer.

    The city of Portland is getting greener and soon cooler. More than a dozen trees have been planted in the Lents neighborhood since the beginning of the year. That's an area considered one of the hottest in the city. The trees have been planted in what's called the "curb zone."Hannah Schafer, the spokesperson for PBOT says, "So, adjacent to the curb of the street where they would really add additional benefit to the neighborhood."KATU News asked why the curb zones were crucial in the design process.

    PORTLAND, Ore. — The National Weather Service has cut multiple weather balloon launches in some states due to staffing shortages, however, so far the Pacific Northwest has been largely unaffected. The balloons collect upper air observations which are crucial for forecasting. There are 100 weather balloon launching sites throughout the United States, Caribbean, and the Pacific Basin. Each site launches 2 weather balloons a day; one in the morning and one at night.

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The Supreme Court has declined an appeal from a group of young climate activists from Oregon, who sued the government over climate change. "I think it's really a testament to the perseverance of young people in the country today. Juliana has faced more government opposition than any other case in history where the United States is a defendant," said Andrea Rodgers, deputy director of US Strategy for Our Children's Trust.
