    Clarke County School District schools and offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 10, due to inclement winter weather, according to an email from the CCSD communications office. However, Friday will be a remote, asynchronous day for students. Athens Academy, a local private school, will be closed Friday and Saturday, with all extracurricular activities cancelled. CCSD’s decision to go remote for the day was made to meet the required number of school days per year, the email said.

    Students for Justice in Palestine at Georgia, formerly SJP at the University of Georgia, and Students for Socialism at UGA recently received official suspension and probation decisions from UGA’s University Judiciary. The suspension and probation periods for SJP GA have been extended through spring 2026 and spring 2029, respectively. SFS has been newly suspended, effective immediately, through fall 2025 and will remain on probation through fall 2026.

    The University of Georgia has extended its new airport shuttle program for out-of-state students to continue for winter break, according to an Archnews email. The program aims to provide out-of-state students with transportation to and from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Through the shuttle program, out-of-state students can purchase discounted airport shuttle services with Groome Transportation and LiteShuttle.
