The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy received almost $1.2 million from the Georgia Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust to combat the opioid epidemic in Georgia, according to a press release. The grant will help fund a two-year project that will connect rural communities in Georgia to small, local pharmacies that have addiction and overdose support.

Athens Land Trust announced the appointment of Demetrius D. Jordan as its new executive director on Monday, Jan. 6. The nonprofit organization is making this change in leadership while it celebrates its 30-year anniversary of “sustainable, holistic and equitable community development.”“We are thrilled to welcome Demetrius to our team at such a meaningful juncture,” Sarah Yates Sutherland, the chair of the Athens Land Trust board of directors, said in a press release.
