A WRAL News viewer named Pam submitted an email to ask about the North Carolina Supreme Court’s rulings that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s name won’t be on ballots this year in North Carolina. Pam wrote, “[He] sued NC to get his name on the ballot. Then he sued to have it removed. How much did those lawsuits cost the [North Carolina] taxpayers?”When North Carolina’s 100 counties add up the cost to reprint millions of ballots, which finished printing in August, it will cost about $1 million to taxpayers.

UNCW marine biology professor shares what people need to know about shark bites, beach safetyThere have been several shark bites the last several weeks up and down the Atlantic coast. It includes a 14-year-old boy getting bitten in late June at North Topsail Beach. In Florida, an Ohio man was bitten on the foot on July 4 while playing football in knee-deep water at New Smyrna Beach in Florida. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

When a city grows, everything grows with it. Recently, the Raleigh City Council launched a $5 million pilot program to find housing for people living outside in camps. The city is set to allocate $3 million to move people out of camps and help them with rent payments, and another $2 million to repair and expand affordable housing options. The program is expected to help about 40 people get out of camps and into permanent housing.

Hundreds of people are adamant that the Raleigh City Council adopt a ceasefire resolution about the war between Israel and Hamas. More than 200 people showed up Jan. 16 to the city council meeting and many of them spoke, causing the meeting to go until almost 11 p.m.Since October 2023 when the war erupted, hundreds of people in Raleigh have called for a ceasefire resolution.
