    INDIANAOLA, Sanpete County — Both directions of U.S. 89 were closed for a time on Thursday after a fatal crash involving a semitruck, according to the Sanpete Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that a crash occurred on U.S. 89 at mile marker 293, just south of Big Hollow Road. The Department of Public Safety said the crash involved a 68-year-old male driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that a crash occurred on US 89 at mile marker 293. Cpl. Luis Silva with the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver of an SUV was killed after a head-on crash with a semitruck. UHP said the area will be closed for a few more hours for investigation to determine what happened.

    SALT LAKE CITY — Fire officials said 200 people were evacuated from the Salt Lake Metro Jail on Thursday after a fire broke out. According to officials on scene, a contractor was working on the HVAC system in the building at the time the flames began, which was sometime before noon on Thursday. Fire Chief Terry Addison with the South Salt Lake Fire Department said many fire departments responded to the scene. Addison made no mention of any possible injuries.

    ST. GEORGE — A rollover on Saturday left one man dead and another man in critical condition, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Lucas Alfred said a report came in at 9:45 p.m. about a rollover on Cottonwood Springs Road. Upon arrival, Alfred said first responders found the vehicle had rolled with two adult males inside. He said the men were unconscious and unresponsive. The sheriff’s office said one of the men was dead at the scene.
