Greenbrier girls soccer played in their third consecutive GHSA Elite Eight. Ranked as the No. 15 team in the state, the Pack was up against Lassiter, No. 10. The Packs’ season came to a premature end at this stage a year ago. This year, heading into their meeting with the Trojans the Pack came in riding a nine-game win streak, six of which came from shutouts.

This academic year, the GHSA is using a power ratings, which includes the use of a math model that ranks teams based on game scores. It helps seed playoff teams from A Division I to 3A. But it isn’t fool proof, we saw that with girls basketball this season. And in Burke County, it felt like it struck again.

    AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Lakeside girls tennis is on the hunt for a return trip to state. Last season they shocked the GHSA, making their first appearance in Rome in more than a decade. This season the Panthers are returning some key pieces like number one singles player Emme Bull. Bull is the top junior girls tennis player in the CSRA. The Panthers have already won the round of 32, and the sweet sixteen, sweeping the competition.
