    Police in Kyotera District are investigating circumstances under which a 30-year-old man believed to be mentally ill hacked four people to death. The deceased have been identified as Idah Nabuma 65, Hassan Ssebufu ,9, 2-year-old Rashima Nansubuga and 7-year-old Abdul Ssemujju. All are residents of Biwerere Ward, Kasaali Town Council in Kyotera District.

    State Minister for Micro Finance, Mr Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has   declared that he will contest for the Kyotera County parliamentary seat in 2026 which he lost in the last election. Mr Kasolo had in 2022 vowed never to go back to Kyotera, saying he was eying Bukoto Central Constituency in neighbouring Masaka District, a seat currently occupied by Democratic Party (DP)'s Richard Ssebamala.

    The long-awaited reconstruction of Masaka-Mutukula Road has finally kicked off, bringing relief to motorists who have endured potholes for the past seven months. The project was launched on March 20 by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja but delayed to start as the contractor, Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) was still mobilising equipment.

    Police in Kyotera District are investigating a robbery in which a mobile money agent was held at gunpoint and robbed of Shs150 million, narrowly escaping gunfire. The incident occurred on Monday, October 7, around midday during a heavy downpour. The shop owner, Ms Stella Nabitosi, recounted the harrowing ordeal, stating the assailant appeared well-prepared, dressed in a long black jacket and mask that obscured his face.
