    Rescuers were Thursday afternoon still searching for two youths who went missing following a canoe accident on River Katonga on Wednesday evening. The victims, Ronald Ssekabira, 26, and Andrew Musinguzi, 21, both residents and boda boda riders in Kabulasoke Town Council, Gomba District, were returning from Masaka City. According to an eyewitness and friend, Ronald Musisi, the group arrived at the river crossing late, when canoe operators had stopped working.

    Lawyers have raised concern over staffing gaps in the judiciary, which they blame for persistently high case backlog in courts across the country. Masaka City-based lawyer Sam Ssekyewa said they are puzzled over continued delays in delivering justice, which he attributed to continued adjournments of cases as a result of staffing gaps in the judiciary.

    Police in Kyotera District are investigating circumstances under which a 30-year-old man believed to be mentally ill hacked four people to death. The deceased have been identified as Idah Nabuma 65, Hassan Ssebufu ,9, 2-year-old Rashima Nansubuga and 7-year-old Abdul Ssemujju. All are residents of Biwerere Ward, Kasaali Town Council in Kyotera District.
