This was the lightest wine at a recent tasting of Carlisle wines. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has cinnamon, black cherries and other spices. light to medium bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, black cherry fruit with a slight cough syrup note. Moderate finish. More of a "Claret" styled Zinfandel. This is nice on its own but would be better with food. A yellow curry dish would work well. Drink over the next five to eight years.

I am a big fan of Tench wines, but this is the first Sauvignon Blanc of theirs that I can recall tasting. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is a bit quiet but has some tropical fruits along with a slight pear note. Medium bodied. Good balance. On the palate, this is a bit more expressive. Flavors of Guava and pair with just the slightest grassiness. Good acidity. Long finish. This is drinking well now and should continue for another three to five years.

Top Ten California Zinfandels - 2016 I tend to taste and drink a lot of wine over the course of a year. I am in a few tasting groups, sometimes the wines are consumed at various local wine store tastings and a number drunk with friends and family. 2006 Ridge Lytton Springs, USA, California, Sonoma, Dry Creek, Wine review This has 80% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, and 4% Carignane. It is drinking just wonderfully right now. Purple in color.

This is a blend of 73% Sonoma County and 27% Napa County. Light green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with yellow grapefruit and guava. Clean. Light to medium bodied. Nice texture. Good balance. On the palate, the tart grapefruit comes thru (in a good way) with a bit of guava. Nice finish. This drinks well on its own and will work well with lighter foods. Fish Tacos would be a nice match. Drink over the next few years.

2021 Bedrock Wine Co. Sauvignon Blanc Judge Family Vineyard, USA, California, Sonoma, Bennett Valley, Wine Review Light green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with honey dew, slight tropical notes, and a bit of sea air. Nice texture. Good acidity. Crisp, yet with rounded edges. On the palate, this is tasty with honey dew melon and some minerality. Long finish. This is delicious on its own and will work well with lighter foods.

This is a blend of 78% Napa and 22% Sonoma. It is 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Semillon. Green/sliver/light gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has guava, peach, slight minerality, an herbal note and a bit of lime peel. Medium bodied. Slightly oily texture. Good acidity. On the palate, this has some depth. Tasty with flavors of peach, apple and citrus. Long finish. This drinks well on its own and will work well with lighter foods. It worked nicely with pasta. Drink over the next few years.

This is a blend of 81% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, and 9% Carignane. A middle of the road style of Napa Zinfandel. Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, slight raspberries, bramble, gravel and spice. Medium bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this drinks easy. Some depth. Flavors of black cherries, cherries, slight cranberries and spice. Good acidity. Nice finish. This is nice on its own and will work well with foods off the grill.

This is a blend of 86% Zinfandel with 14% other varietals from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma. Of course, it is Mike Officer and Carlisle's home vineyard. Purple in color with some ruby hues, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is energetic with black raspberries, black cherries, bramble, black pepper and spice (cloves?). Medium bodied. Light tannins. Great balance. On the palate, this is young but really opens with an hour or two air. Plenty of depth.

Whitehall Lane Winery has a focus on red wines, more Cabernet driven wines. This 2019 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel offers notes of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, boysenberry, and huckleberry. The fruit is fully structured by moderate to mature tannins, the use of judicious oak, and a mild acidity. There are back notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and light campfire.

This is a Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon blend from Napa. Light green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is slightly grassy with a touch of lemon verbena. Very clean. Medium bodied. Slightly viscous. Good crisp acidity. On the palate, the lemon is a bit more pronounced with a steely quality. Long finish. Refreshing. This is a very nice white that drinks easy on its own and will work well with lighter foods. A nice wine for Pork Chops. Drink over the next three to five years.
