This is one of  the better Sonoma Cabs I have had.  Purple in color with some ruby hues, opaque and bright.  The nose is elegant but still powerful with cassis, black cherries, baking spices and slight fresh tobacco notes.  Great texture.  Medium tannins.  Nice acidity.  On the palate, this is young but already showing nice complexity.  Layers of black cherries and cassis with a touch of earthiness and char.  Long finish.  This is delicious on its own and will work well with foods.

My first time trying this vintage.  It tastes like a Napa Cab.  Shocker.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is nice with cassis, toast, spice, slight black cherries, slight char.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  Good balance.  On the palate, this is tasty with cassis, oak spice, char and slight baking spices.  It seems open and drinking well if still primary.  Consumed over two days, it seemed the same both days.  So, this was about $150 all in.

Jamie Kutch tends to make very elegant Pinot Noir's.  Ruby in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with cherries, cherry cough drops, slight sour cherries and slighter cola.  Medium bodied.  Light tannins.  Nicely balanced.  On the palate, this seems fully mature.  Some depth and complexity.  Good finish.  This is drinking very well and seems about at peak.  It  should be at this level for at least another five years.  It is very nice on its own and will work well with the right foods.

True to the region, there is an enviable earthiness to Santa Cruz Pinot Noirs; a slightly rough brambly character that differentiates this AVA from all others in California. Calera has been sourcing Santa Cruz fruit since 2015 and this high elevation vineyards procures stellar fruit. This offers red raspberry, mild black cherry, earthy wet stone notes, dried wildflowers, a touch of lavender and cracked black pepper. The acidity and tannic structure work well together to support the darker fruit.

Pym Rae is the former vineyard home of Robin Williams.  In 2016, the property  was purchased by the Tesserson family (the owner's of Bordeaux's Pontet Canet).  This is a big wine and one of the riper 2017's I can remember trying.  Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is big with cassis, cedar, tobacco, baking spice and char.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, this has cassis, dust, roasted earth and spice.  Long finish.  This is deep but needs air/time to show some complexity.
