As the cold weather hits, food banks across the West Midlands are gearing up for their busiest time of year. Figures from The Trussell Trust suggest demand for food parcels and other essential items in the West Midlands has risen by 64% over the past five years. Alongside more first-time clients, the charity said it had also seen more families with children and people over 65 accessing its services.

A mother says she fears for her and her baby's safety after her car was stripped of parts twice outside her home in the space of a month. Faizah Azeem said her Toyota Aygo was first targeted on 19 March in Moseley, and then again on Sunday. Ms Azeem, 32, says she feels like police are not doing enough to inform her about "car cannibalism". West Midlands Police said they carried out inquiries but closed the March case due to no CCTV or suspect identified.
