As the cold weather hits, food banks across the West Midlands are gearing up for their busiest time of year. Figures from The Trussell Trust suggest demand for food parcels and other essential items in the West Midlands has risen by 64% over the past five years. Alongside more first-time clients, the charity said it had also seen more families with children and people over 65 accessing its services.

A manufacturing boss said he would have "no choice" but to put up prices, after extra levies for businesses were announced in the Autumn Budget. Chancellor Rachel Reeves delivered Labour’s first Budget since 2010 on Wednesday and announced tax rises worth £40bn - more than half of which will be paid for by businesses. Employers will have to pay more in National Insurance (NI) contributions, in changes that are set to generate £25bn.

Faizah Azeem said her Toyota Aygo was first targeted on 19 March in Moseley, and then again on Sunday. Ms Azeem, 32, says she feels like police are not doing enough to inform her about "car cannibalism". West Midlands Police said they carried out inquiries but closed the March case due to no CCTV or suspect identified.
