There have now been a number of crocodile sightings at Inskip Peninsula, a popular camping spot. Authorities believe the latest crocodile may have been swept far from its natural home by wild weather in north Queensland. The camping ground remains open, but the Queensland Parks and Wildlife says visitors should stay vigilant around the water.

Queensland farmer Margaret Thompson is used to fielding requests for buffalo milk, meat and hides. But the 86-year-old from Maleny, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, was not expecting a call asking for buffalo skulls to be used as musical instruments. A man wanted by police over a cold case murder in Queensland 27 years ago has been arrested in Sydney's north-west. Officers took 72-year-old Keith Lees into custody at a property on Kenthurst Road at Dural about 8am yesterday, over an outstanding warrant issued in July 2023 in relation to the alleged murder of Meaghan Louise Rose in 1997 on the Sunshine Coast.

A Queensland surfing coach will spend Christmas behind bars after being arrested on child sex abuse charges for the second time in a week. Connor John Christopher Lyons, 26, was initially arrested on Sunday and charged with 12 counts of indecent treatment of children on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. He was released on bail on Monday with conditions, including that clients of his "learn-to-surf" business must be aged 17 or older.

A Queensland surf coach has faced court accused of the indecent treatment of two children on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. Connor John Christopher Lyons, 26, was arrested by police on Sunday and charged with 12 counts of indecent treatment of children and three counts of wilful exposure. Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit allege the offences occurred against two boys. Police allege the incidents took place over a 14-month period starting in August last year.

A Sunshine Coast man who coached children's sporting teams for more than a decade has faced court accused of historical child sex abuse. Detectives charged the high-profile former sports administrator and coach with more than a dozen offences dating back to the 1990s. A joint investigation between Caboolture and Sunshine Coast child protection units resulted in police arresting the Rosemount man last month.

Queensland Police have fined a parent who allegedly allowed his teenage sons to ride unregistered electric motorcycles on suburban streets in Noosa. Noosa police issued the fine as part of Operation Zappo Stoppie, a major crackdown on the use of battery-powered bikes and motorcycles in the area. Police said the Sunshine Beach man, 58, was fined more than $500 for allegedly allowing his 15 and 17-year-old boys to ride the unregistered e-motorbikes. The fines carried a penalty of $258 each.
