A Queensland surf coach has faced court accused of the indecent treatment of two children on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. Connor John Christopher Lyons, 26, was arrested by police on Sunday and charged with 12 counts of indecent treatment of children and three counts of wilful exposure. Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit allege the offences occurred against two boys. Police allege the incidents took place over a 14-month period starting in August last year.

A Sunshine Coast man who coached children's sporting teams for more than a decade has faced court accused of historical child sex abuse. Detectives charged the high-profile former sports administrator and coach with more than a dozen offences dating back to the 1990s. A joint investigation between Caboolture and Sunshine Coast child protection units resulted in police arresting the Rosemount man last month.

Emergency crews have found the body of a hiker who went missing in the Glass House Mountains last week. The 20-year-old Mountain Creek man was last seen at about 1pm on Sunday, when he was about to climb Mount Beerwah. Police say his body was found on Thursday afternoon on the north-west face of the mountain. His disappearance sparked an extensive search of dense bushland. Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious and are now working with other emergency services to recover the body.

Reinforcements have arrived in the search for a missing hiker in the Glass House Mountains range on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, as concerns for his welfare deepen. The 20-year-old man had been scaling Mount Beerwah on his own in 34-degree heat on Sunday afternoon. Police have published an image of the Mountain Creek man but have not released his name. He sent a photo from his mobile phone around 1pm on Sunday and has not been seen or heard from since.

The teenage driver of a speeding stolen car that killed three people on Queensland's Fraser Coast last year has been sentenced to six years in youth detention. Michale Chandler, 29, Kelsie Davies, 17, and Sheree Robertson, 52, died on April 30 when the then-13-year-old boy caused a three-car collision on Saltwater Creek Road at Maryborough, north of Brisbane. The boy, from Bundaberg, was initially charged with three counts of dangerous driving causing death, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
